Quarterly Market Commentary

Our reflections on the past quarter: what moved markets, what did not, and why patient investors were once again rewarded for looking past the headlines.

Each quarter brings its own weather, and this one was no exception. Markets rose, fell and rose again, and along the way commentators offered confident explanations for movements that were, in truth, largely noise.

Our view has not changed. The value of a well-constructed portfolio does not depend on this quarter's news cycle. It depends on the earnings power of the businesses it holds, the reliability of the income it produces, and the discipline with which it is rebalanced through both enthusiasm and anxiety.

During the quarter we made modest adjustments where valuations and client circumstances warranted them. We did not attempt to time the market, and we do not intend to start. The families we serve are investing across decades; the appropriate response to short-term volatility is usually to review the plan, confirm it remains sound, and carry on.

As always, we would rather explain what we own and why than predict where an index will finish the year. If recent movements have prompted questions about your own portfolio, we would welcome the conversation.
